Tayto Group Ltd, based in Tandragee, County Armagh, are the UK’s third largest snack manufacturer. Established in 1956 and still owned by the same family that started it all off, they make some of the tastiest and most quintessentially Northern Irish snacks available. In fact, one in every five packets of crisps eaten in Northern Ireland is apparently Tayto Cheese & Onion. We suspect that one in every five packets of Tayto Cheese & Onion crisps is eaten in Legato’s offices!
Over the past ten years, Tayto Group has grown, with the acquisition of brands including Golden Wonder, Real Crisps, Mr Porky and Jonathan Crisp. Tayto Group’s headquarters at Tayto Castle in Tandragee is where the original Tayto brand crisps are manufactured and Tayto operate factory tours at the facility, allowing school children and other visitors to find out how a modern food factory operates.
Celebrating 60 in Style
To celebrate their upcoming 60th anniversary, Tayto embarked on a major redesign and redevelopment of their tour areas. One of Tayto’s aims was to engage the public through new technology and to provide a greater welcoming experience. After our partner Designco were awarded the contract for the design and fit-out of the tour area, we were delighted that Tayto asked us to incorporate digital signage into the experience. Tayto wanted to be able to show Tayto commercials and corporate videos and to keep visitors occupied while they waited.
After consulting with Tayto management and tour guides, we got to work on a 2 display digital poster solution, to be deployed in the waiting area where visitor groups meet before the start of their tour. We supplied and installed all the screens and other hardware for Tayto and we made sure it was all looking great and working perfectly.
Instant Welcome Messages
We didn’t stop there though. We soon realised that this was also a perfect opportunity to use ScreenRocket, our new instant content creation application. With ScreenRocket, Tayto are able to instantly create individualised welcome messages for tour parties and display these on their screens. We designed a groovy Tayto template for the messages and showed Tayto just how quick and easy it was to create personal welcome messages.
We love to see other Northern Irish companies being so successful and we’re always glad to help out in whatever way we can. We’re proud to have helped Tayto cook up such a tasty tour experience for their visitors with our digital signage!
